SALI-SOLV® SA also known as Curcylic 40 is a pre-solubilized, water-soluble form of Salicylic Acid (36–44% USP grade) designed for safe and effective skin care, OTC acne, and dandruff formulations. This amber, viscous liquid is clear, cold-processable, and free from precipitation or crystallization, ensuring ease of use and handling in a wide range of products .
As a keratolytic agent, SALI-SOLV SA gently and safely exfoliates dead skin cells, accelerating natural cell turnover to reveal clearer, smoother, and brighter skin. It penetrates and softens keratin, breaks apart desmosomes in the epidermis, and stimulates collagen, elastin, and fibrillin synthesis, leading to visible improvements in texture, fine lines, mottled pigmentation, and overall youthful appearance .
SALI-SOLV® SA has been shown to perform better than traditional salicylic acid and glycolic acid in reducing wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and roughness — while being non-irritating, non-drying, and alcohol-free. FORMULATIONS
- The recommended use level is 0.5-40% of Salicylic Acid. Restrictions on the amount of salicylic acid used in cosmetics may vary by region, intended use, and application
- Oil-in-water emulsions: After the two phases have been combined and the emulsion has formed, cool the batch to 40°C-45°C. Slowly mix in the SALI-SOLV SA with propeller agitation and continue cooling and mixing.
- Cold process formulations: It is easily used in cold processing of formulations where no heat is needed.
- Salicylic acid is classified as an OTC (over-the-counter) active ingredient by the FDA. To legally manufacture and sell products containing this material, your production site must be FDA-registered and operate in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

- Monitor pH Levels: Always test the pH of your final product after adding salicylic acid, as it can significantly lower it. To minimize the risk of skin irritation, ensure the final pH is above 3.5.
